Our role

Redesign and development of the Fina platform

The project was highly comprehensive. It constituted a full-scale redesign, including the Fina website and the intranet website, covering:

  • Discovery and planning
  • UX and UI design
  • Content management
  • Development
  • Security and compliance
  • Performance optimization
  • Educational services

The project began with discovery workshops, content audit and stakeholder interviews to understand primary user journeys. The insights gained from these activities informed the development of a new information architecture for both the public website and intranet. A special focus was placed on refined and better-suited copy.

Challenge

Creating a functional information architecture and providing user-friendly content

Since Fina offers over 100 services for citizens and business entities, it was necessary to design a new and functional information architecture that allows users to navigate the site and find the information they need easily. The existing content on the public website and intranet also had to be migrated, adapted and reorganized.

In addition to commercial services, Fina provides a specific set of services for public authorities and on behalf of the state, so legal terminology had to be presented to users in the most understandable way possible while maintaining consistency and uniformity in copywriting and content presentation.

Solution

New user-oriented Fina platform

Netgen implemented a robust digital experience platform to meet the challenges, focusing on operational efficiency and user engagement. The solution included the following steps:

  • Conducting comprehensive workshops, content audit and stakeholder interviews to inform the new information architecture and design
  • Developing interactive low-fidelity wireframes, advanced to high-fidelity prototypes adhering to Fina's new brand guidelines, and conducting usability testing to refine the design
  • Fully implementing the public website and intranet using the Ibexa CMS multisite setup, sharing reusable components, features and functionalities, supporting bilingual content (Croatian and English)
  • Creating 20+ various online contact forms, and ensuring GDPR compliance processes, such as personal data retention, etc.
  • Implementing search using Elastic search engine integrated with Ibexa, optimized based on content types and fields, and migrating content using custom scripts, ensuring SEO preservation
  • Configuring a multiple node cluster on Fina’s infrastructure for production and staging instances, implementing comprehensive security protocols including two-factor authentication, and achieving WCAG Level AA compliance with accessibility features
  • Conducting performance benchmarks, achieving high scores in Chrome Lighthouse tests (100 on desktop, 94 on mobile)
  • Providing on-site and online educational sessions, creating an extensive user manual and content style guide for Fina’s web editors, and configuring various editorial roles to enable administrators to manage the new platform effectively

Our approach ensured that Fina's digital transformation was seamless, secure and highly effective, setting a new standard for their digital operations.
