Our Role: Re-Design & Migration

Netgen took over several tasks in the project

  1. Migration of legacy eZ Publish content to Ibexa DXP
  2. New UX and user interface designs, with Atomare's design.
  3. Provide ESMO members and website visitors with easier access to relevant information related to medical oncology and an improved user experience

The project has resulted in a comprehensive lead agency assignment for all of the organization's digital channels.

Challenge. Huge content and complex migration

Due to its wide reach and the relevance of ESMO, the website is the central platform for different stakeholders in oncology. The user groups are heterogeneous and range from researchers and medical professionals to patients, patient advocates and patient relatives.

Different users have different demands on the website. An optimized user experience according to applicable UX principles was thus the focus - true to the guiding principle "Don't search, find!"

The existing platform had several hundred thousand objects in the database. This large amount of data had to be better structured, its content classes migrated and reorganized.

Solution: New System, New Layouts, New Modules

Netgen designed and implemented several platforms for a customer in one go. In the process, numerous specific modules were co-developed in the background:

  • E-Learning
  • Exams & Quizzes
  • Guidelines
  • Voting & Polling
  • Declaration of Interests forms (DoI)
  • SalesForce SSO

In order to facilitate the navigation of the website users, the following features have been implemented:

  • Cards and banners for easier orientation
  • Page navigation with multiple levels - always visible on all devices
  • Powerful filters and search modules to quickly find the right content and mark it for later use
  • Related and linked content in one place for seamless customer journeys

Since the initial migration, Netgen has continuously improved the platform using an agile methodology. Sites are continuously monitored and optimized.
