Mid-Senior UI Designer

Our UX/UI department is evolving and now we are looking for a Mid-Senior UI Designer who is ready to embrace the future of the industry. We need someone who can move pixels with precision today but is already experimenting with AI and systems thinking that shape the products of tomorrow.

About Netgen

For over 20 years, Netgen has been a "generator of change". We are a digital agency specializing in the design and development of complex digital products. We combine strategic consulting, UX design, and advanced technology to enable sustainable growth and innovation for our clients.

From telecommunication and financial sectors to international non-profits and furniture design companies, we build long-term partnerships based on trust and technical excellence. Since 2012 we've been organising our own international web-related conference, Web Summer Camp.

What We Are Looking For

You are an actual digital product designer. While we value research and strategy, this role calls for someone who excels in execution and final delivery.

  • Proven Experience: You have a portfolio featuring at least 3 implemented digital products (such as web apps, mobile apps, websites…). We want to see work that has survived contact with the real world.
  • AI & Modern Tooling: You understand AI as both a tool and an approach. Skills in prompt engineering and rapid prototyping workflows are highly valued (or a strong willingness to master them with our support).
  • Pixel Precision: You move pixels with intent. You are highly proficient in Figma and have a keen eye for typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
  • Systems Thinking: You design for the whole: ecosystems, organizations, and interactions that span channels, not just isolated screens.
  • Technical Grasp: You possess an understanding of frontend constraints and possibilities. Basic understanding of HTML/CSS/JavaScript is appreciated because we believe the best designers understand the medium they are building for.
  • Integrative Thinking: You take inspiration from other disciplines to improve solutions and are comfortable stretching beyond the traditional boundaries of design.

The 2026 Mindset: How We Work

To thrive at Netgen, you must embody proactivity and professional autonomy. We operate on high trust, which means we don’t micromanage; instead, we expect you to take full ownership of your workday, anticipate problems before they become emergencies, and identify the solutions needed to solve them. If you spot a gap in a project, you never step over it; you fix it or flag it immediately. We are looking for professionals who don’t wait for instructions to drive value.

This autonomy is anchored by precision in communication. In complex projects, ambiguity is the enemy, so we trade vague assurances for actionable intelligence. You are expected to proactively update clients and colleagues, signalling delays or asking questions the moment they arise. This specific, transparent communication is what builds trust and accelerates our collective progress.

Your Responsibilities

  • Designing intuitive, innovative, and functional UI for complex web and mobile products.
  • Creating mockups, prototypes, and design systems that scale.
  • Collaborating closely in cross-functional teams (with UX Researchers, Developers, and PMs).
  • Presenting your work confidently to clients and internal teams, gathering feedback, and iterating without ego.
  • Translating business goals and user needs into concrete, measurable design outputs.

Why Netgen?

We nurture a comfortable yet stimulating working environment. Your crewmates know what they are doing but are never afraid to ask for help when stuck.

  • Hybrid Model: We value in-person collaboration to foster creativity and team spirit. Our model allows you to work remotely up to 7 days a month, giving you flexibility when you need it, while the rest of the time is spent collaborating with the team in our Zagreb office.
  • Tools for the Future: You will have access to a premium AI tool stack to support your workflow and experimentation.
  • Growth: We help you develop a professional development plan. We will continue to invest in your growth, whether through external education or internal trainings.
  • Web Summer Camp: We will take you to the Croatian coast for a week of learning and fun at our own annual conference.
  • Culture: We value people who "sing out loud" (literally or metaphorically). We show up for each other, at work and beyond.
  • Compensation: We offer competitive wages based on your experience and interview performance.

Why You?

You are curious, adaptable, and empathetic. You understand that there is no "I" in Netgen. You are capable of working across industries with clients as true partners. You are not afraid to make decisions, but you are also open to objective criticism.

Q&A

After we receive your application, we will contact you back as soon as possible. Our team will evaluate your application and decide whether you might be the one we are looking for. If you might be, we will get back to you with a short assignment to get a clearer understanding of your skills or invite you for a cup of coffee during an interview.

When you send us a job application, you can be sure that we will review it thoroughly and carefully and that we will get back to you, even if we believe that you might not be the best candidate. Usually, we either send our candidates an assignment related to the job position or we invite them for an interview. During an interview we will discuss your assignment approach, and we will most definitely talk about your previous experience and career aspirations.

We are quite methodical about the entire selection process, so when it comes to interviewing we like to talk for hours, if necessary :) We like to get to know you and we believe that it is important that you get to know us, too. That said, you will be talking to our co-founders and some of the colleagues that you will be working closely with.

Working at Netgen will give you a chance to work for various clients from different countries, considering our three offices in Zagreb, Osijek and Zurich. Also, it is interesting to mention that the average tenure of our current employees is 6.8 years. We are quite sure that our frequent birthday parties and after work beers are to blame :)

Generally, yes. However, we prefer for our new employees to start working at Netgen from our offices. We believe that is a much better way to go through your onboarding process from the office and meet the entire team.
