Take The BREAK and join Web Summer Camp 2020

by Katarina Barišić -

Our yearly conference for the web community will be held from August 26th to August 28th in Bol, Island of Brač. While developer workshops remain the essence of the event, this year we are introducing a business programme focused primarily on managers from web companies.

[NEW!]  The BREAK Conference and workshops

Whether you run a web agency, develop a digital product or run a business in the digital industry, you are aware that solid code is not nearly enough to build a successful story. There are so many things that need to meet for your business to grow, including excellent customer experience, proper “martech” tools and techniques that would boost your team productivity, recognising the perfect partner and the perfect moment that would take your ideas to the next level, etc. But, what lies behind all these things is your will to BREAK your known habits and rebuild your own models of work.

For all of you on the business side of the web, we are preparing The BREAK – three days of engaging workshops, group discussions and in-depth conference presentations about relevant experiences, tools and new tech. We are happy to inform you that known experts Paul Boag and Deane Barker will share their knowhow with us in the conference part. In the next few weeks, we’ll announce more speakers so stay tuned!

The conference part starts after lunch the second day (Thu 27th) and ends on the third day (Fri 28th). The BREAK conference session is preceded by day and a half of in-depth sessions starting the first day (Wed 26th) divided into 2 tracks:

  • Content & Commerce experts discussion moderated by our friend and CMS market veteran Janus Boye and participants from various vendors from his CMS expert group. A great session to learn about the latest industry trends.
  • The BREAK workshops on the relevant business topic with Paul Boag’s workshop on running a web agency more effectively and other speakers to be announced.

Early birds will be available by the end of March. You will be able to purchase the full 3-day ticket or a ticket just for the conference part.

Dev workshops – first speakers announced

When it comes to our fellow developers, the concept stays unchanged. Just like the year before, we are preparing three days of hands-on workshops divided into three tracks – JavaScript, PHP and Symfony. So far, we confirmed several speakers: Derick Rethans (Xdebug), Michelle Sanver (Liip), Nicolas Grekas (Symfony), David Buchmann (Liip), Nader Dabit (Amazon).

Call for papers is open until the end of March so if you would like to share your experience with the community this summer, don’t be shy and submit your workshop proposal. Many well known experts held workshops over the years at our event.

And if you have never attended Web Summer Camp and wonder how our workshops really look, we suggest you watch some of the full recorded workshops from previous years. Find the topic of your interest at netgen.io/learn and dive into the best experts’ tips & tricks.

Early birds will be available by the end of March.

[NEW!] Explore our new website

It was time to refresh the look and feel of the conference website as well. Explore it to find all the details regarding programme, speakers, tracks, etc… And let its vivid colors take you to Mediterranean summer mood.

[NEW!] Location – Bol, Croatia!

In the spirit of breaking habits, we decided to spice up things a bit by changing the location. After 6 excellent years in Rovinj, the conference is moving to Bol, Island of Brač. For most of our attendees, this would be a new experience of Web Summer Camp, while some of you will refresh memory of the first two Web Summer Camps that were located in Bol.

Our venue is the leading wellness & spa hotel in Croatia, Hotel Elaphusa. It hosts all workshops, lunches, dinners, coffee breaks and some of the after-workshop activities.

If you’re wondering where Bol is and what to expect there, well, we’ll just tell you it’s one of the most recognisable points in Croatia with its famous beachZlatni rat. Except for sea, sun and beach, Bol offers plenty of opportunities to extend your business trip to a vacation, with the highest peak of all Adriatic islands, historical architecture, awarded olive gardens and vineyards being some of them.

The best thing regarding our new location is that it’s very easy to get to Bol. Depending on the transport you prefer, there are several ways to reach Bol.

Visit Web Summer Camp website to check all the options.
