MingleAI: Turning “random” encounters into relevant conversations with AI

The project 'Development of an innovative AI-based solution for networking at business events – MingleAI' focuses on an innovative approach to networking at business events, where traditional models often rely on random and inefficient participant interactions.

Project title

Development of an innovative AI-based solution for networking at business events – MingleAI

Project Code: NPOO.C3.2.R3-I1.06.0286

Project overview

The project 'Development of an innovative AI-based solution for networking at business events – MingleAI' focuses on an innovative approach to networking at business events, where traditional models often rely on random and inefficient participant interactions. The goal is to develop a prototype for automated participant matching based on professional interests and objectives, using state-of-the-art generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and multi-agent systems.

Instead of participants relying on their own ability to identify relevant contacts, in this concept they are represented by virtual avatars, shaped based on the provided data and preferences, with the user’s consent. These avatars function as generative agents, replicating the user’s personality and interests, and through mutual communication, they search for compatible collaboration partners. In this way, the networking process becomes closer to natural human interaction, while being more efficient and targeted.

The technical-technological elements include:

  • data collection and processing (information on interests, business goals, and industry),
  • participant profiling using advanced AI techniques,
  • matchmaking algorithms based on similarity of interests and goals,
  • optimization through virtual avatar communication,
  • iterative learning and algorithm adaptation based on feedback,
  • ensuring privacy and data control (consent, encryption, anonymity).

The main project risk relates to the possibility that the matchmaking algorithm may not achieve high accuracy in a real-world environment, due to unpredictable participant behavior patterns. The planned mitigation measures include testing at real events, collecting feedback, and gradual system optimization.

With this project, the aim is to demonstrate the concept of a platform that enhances the efficiency of networking at business events and creates the foundation for the future commercialization of the innovation.

Project goals and expected results

The implementation of the project and its expected results are fully aligned with the anticipated outcomes and purpose of the call 'Proof of Innovative Concept – Third Call.' The activities planned within the scope of this project consequently lead to an increase in the Applicant’s readiness for the development of new products by enhancing the company’s research, development, and innovation capacities.

In addition to the research activity, which includes prototype development and demonstration of technical feasibility, the project also encompasses activities related to innovation cycle management and the preparation of documents for the purpose of commercialization of the innovation. These aim at patent database searches, establishing conditions for intellectual property protection, and drafting a market analysis document. As such, the project also positively contributes to achieving the specific goal of the Call: 'Improving the market readiness of research and development results.'

One of the outcomes of the project is the employment of a researcher in the Applicant company for three years after the project completion, thereby directly contributing to another specific goal of the Call: 'Enhancing company capacities for research, development, and innovation.'

The successful implementation of the project will contribute to the achievement of the following planned results:

  • Introduction of a new innovative product to the market in year m+5;
  • Preliminary patent database search conducted in year m;
  • Submission of an intellectual property protection application in year m+3;
  • Preparation of a market analysis document for the purpose of innovation commercialisation in year m;
  • Employment of new researchers in the Applicant company in year m+3.
