Meet us for the lecture "Symfony framework: one of the saviors of PHP" at Web::INDUSTRIJA 2015

Lately, a lot of programming languages appeared that are considered better than PHP. Perhaps these languages would have even overthrown the "old" PHP if there weren't for PHP frameworks, Symfony among them.

Any meeting including several web programmers (in person, on social media or in the chat rooms) usually ends in a discussion whether PHP is a good programming language or not.

Sooner or later, many end up using PHP, due to its popularity and spread, and every one of them has an opinion about it. Meanwhile, a lot of programming languages appeared that are considered better than PHP. Perhaps these languages would have even overthrown the "old" PHP if there weren’t for the reliable PHP frameworks. There are many of them and their main characteristics are speeding up the work and bringing convention, tools, and advanced ways of coding.

Symfony is one of the more powerful PHP frameworks and the story of why we at Netgen are using it has already been told.

In short:

  • it has a well-structured and flexible architecture
  • there is no reinventing the wheel, other tested PHP components are used
  • it is divided into numerous smaller components that are easily added or removed
  • it has an excellent documentation
  • it has many object-oriented paradigms

We are not the only ones who have recognized these qualities. Plenty of big projects use Symfony, some are built on it, and the others migrated to it. It is even possible to integrate different solutions into one, which demonstrates Symfony’s powerful capabilities, as proven by us and our partners in Locastic. Recently, we have integrated eZ Publish CMS and Sylius e-commerce into one Symfony instance.

Find all the details on that adventure and learn more about Symfony at Web::INDUSTRIJA 2015 on June 11-12 in Zagreb.
