After skipping last year’s edition of Web Summer Camp due to well-known reasons, we became tired of online events and conferences and thought it was the right time to finally meet in person.
With the overall situation in our lives still affected by Covid-19 and constant preventative measures, we estimated that it was possible to meet in person and decided to ditch the online concept of conferences and hangouts. After all, we skipped the last year’s edition of #websc precisely because the online version would never satisfy demands of our Campers - allowing them to mingle, dance, swim, exercise or just sip coffees together.
New location, new venue
The 9th edition of Web Summer Camp took place at a new location - Amadria Park Šibenik and it gathered around 175 attendees from all over the world to take part in five different tracks - JavaScript, PHP, Symfony (for developers) and Tech forum and UX/PM (for web experts). The attendees could participate in various workshops and discussions, which often spontaneously continued at coffee breaks and other hangouts.
Tech forum track, a new one this year, was moderated by Janus Boye, a veteran in the CMS/DXP industry, who had introduced seven different speakers focused on martech trends, first-hand experiences related to building web sites and shops with an increasing number of tools, solutions and architectures that work.
Of course, we had the Companions track organised this year, too. This track offers every attendee to extend their business trip to a vacation by bringing their companions. We kept the Companions entertained with a nice sightseeing tour of Šibenik and bicycle ride to the St. Nicholas’ Fortress, right next to the Amadria Park Šibenik.
Recreation and hangouts
The tradition of morning recreation continued with this edition of Web Summer Camp, as well. As almost every previous year, Ivo led the group of early-risers to morning swimming and running. For those who preferred afternoon fun, we prepared a Lounge with the Experts to enjoy some free beers and discuss topics related to workshops or their latest projects.
Attendees’ thoughts on #websc 2021
We asked our attendees to give us feedback on the overall organisation and workshops at the conference this year. We are glad to share with you that:
- 84 percent of attendees believe they can apply the information presented in workshops in their work
- 86 percent of attendees plan to attend the #websc 2022
- The overall score the attendees gave to #websc 2021 was 8.7 out of 10
We are always interested and open to hearing your ideas and suggestions for the upcoming edition. If you have any and would like to share, drop us an email.
Big thanks to our sponsors
It’s important to give thanks to our sponsors. Thank you for your support and for taking the time to recognize the value of our event; Gold sponsor: Netgen Layouts; Silver sponsors: CJW Network, Infolox, Q Agency; and Bronze sponsors: auth0, Effectiva, SofaScore, Scout APM, Sylius and SensioLabs.
See you in 2022!
We are optimistic that, despite the global difficulties with Covid-19, things will somehow, gradually get better and easier when it comes to public gatherings and conferences. We want to thank everyone for following the imposed and somewhat strict Covid-19 procedure during the registration. It is important to keep everyone safe and healthy, that was one of our priorities when organising this event.
While we are still processing all the impressions from last week, we are already wondering what the next year will bring. And we already have a few new ideas!
See you next year!
