Split Summer Festival (1954 - 2009) is an artistic festival that has been building its national and international reputation since the second half of the twentieth century. Besides the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, it is the festival with the longest and the shiniest tradition of the classical spectrum of scenic arts (opera, drama, ballet, concert etc.) while its panoply has been spreading with time: from jazz concerts and film festivals to exhibitions, performances, and street theater.
The most persistent and the strongest organizational link of the Festival is the Croatian National Theater Split, the theater that has been an inevitable and key point of Split culture life and one of the most vital points of the theater life of the whole Croatia.
